Hiatus

Hiatus

Seems it happens to every blogger sooner or later — the hiatus. I’m taking some official time off from the blog. What I’ll miss is all of you — this blog provided me with an in-between space to practice my nonfiction voice — and in the months after Patrick died, it was good to have a semi-public space to do some writing. But now I’m working hard on the new book, and need to concentrate on it for a bit. I’ll always be grateful for the kind comments and all the support you’ve given me these past few months. I’ll be back eventually, but for a bit, I need some time off. I’ll try to check in after my fabulous late-September/early October trip to Paris and Provence ….

  1. Charlotte, your voice will be missed. But here’s to hard work and a wonderful trip to some of my favorite places. Enjoy the time off, and do come back!

  2. Thanks for the notice, Charlotte! I’m glad to hear that you’re writing, and I’m immensely jealous of your France trip. I was there about the same time of year in 2002, and it was wonderful. Enjoy, and I look forward to hearing from you when you’re back!

  3. What an interesting site you have here, I don’t even know how I got here! The fact that you can freeze chard amazes me. I’ve learned something new. I thought I was going to have to find new and exciting recipes for mine. I don’t know what I was thinking when I planted it all. Then, I went and ordered more chard seeds. Called “Bright Lights”, very colorful and I expect it to grow for me clear through September, and I hope to be using it fresh (maybe under cover here in PA) through November. Shall I still freeze some?

Have a wonderful vacation. I was supposed to have one this year. Ended up working instead but did manage to create a wonderful little spot in my garden to escape to with a glass of wine in the evenings. Low lights, sound of the waterfall in the pond, spicey sweet smell of nicotiana. Little bit of heaven. Then of course it’s off to bed because the wine knocks me out.

  4. Safe trip, Charlotte. Bring home some amazing memories to tide you through the long cold winter, and know that we will be here whenever you feel like popping back to say hello. Thanks for sharing so much of your life with us these past many difficult months. All the best to you!
