Earthquake!

Earthquake!

Just a little one — sitting here watching TV and surfing and my first thought was that it was the dogs — that Owen had jumped off the bed with a big thump. But Owie only weighs 40 pounds, so that couldn’t be it, and frankly, it felt like an earthquake. I’ve only been through a couple of them — my first was actually in New York City — I lived in Queens and thought, “That must be the subway,” but the subway was 2 blocks away. Anyhow, this one felt like a little wave bumping up and under the house. The USGS website tells me that it was actually a fairly big quake — 5.6 over by Dillon, 150 miles away from me. A nice little bump. They’re saying on the news from Billings that it’s the first earthquake they’ve actually felt in 20 years or so … so anyhow, that’s the seismic weather from Montana. I just think it’s very cool that within 10 minutes of an earthquake, I can find out on the internet where it was, how big it was, and what was going on …
