Stitches and the Itchy Foot

Stitches and the Itchy Foot

Ray Stitches Here’s my Raymond with all his stitches. He had to spend the night at the vet because he was still snoozing yesterday at five when they closed. He’s fine. All cleaned up and they said I did a nice job with the butterfly bandages over the weekend — poor guy really took a gouge out of himself. He’s very happy to be home and is in his crate in the other room loudly licking at those parts of the wound he can reach.

itchy foot And here’s poor Itchy Foot. Turns out that the reason he went so crazy the other night is that after he’d chewed the foot loose from the splint, it got wet. And because it got wet, he got a bad rash between his toes. Rash! Itch! no wonder he was going so crazy. So he spent the day at the vet’s yesterday lounging in a crate with toe-itch-powder on his foot. He’s home too — no splint, so on a very short leash shall we say. And I follow him around puffing toe-itch-powder on him when he’ll let me. He’s pretty much confined to the crate or the bed under the kitchen table, although right now he’s outside on the front porch. We’re off tomorrow to Billings to see the orthopedist where we’ll see if Humpty Dumpty can be put back together again.

  1. Good news on the pups! Hope tomorrow goes well for you also. I live in La Veta, Colorado – a little tiny town in the Sangre de Cristo range in southern Colorado – about 75 miles from the New Mexico border and at an altitude of about 7500 ft. Now that is more than you asked for! I do love Colorado and there is no place I would rather live but the weather for growing your own food can be challenging – late freezes, hail storms, downpours or no rain at all! We are supposed to get more snow by Thursday and at 1:00 pm today it is 27 degrees. Such is life in the wonderful West, isn’t it?
