Odin, the Faithful

Lthumbmon15004151614monaco_rainier_funer Okay, I’m an official dog-geek now. Look, it’s Odin, Prince Rainier’s faithful, six-and-one-half year old dog following his coffin through the streets of Monaco. The news wire said that Odin followed along "limping slightly." Make me cry already.

I'm a writer and editor based in Livingston, Montana. I moved to Livingston from the San Francisco Bay area in 2002 in search of affordable housing and a small community with a vibrant arts community. I found both. LivingSmall details my experience buying and renovating a house, building a garden, becoming a part of this community. It also chronicles my efforts to rebuild my life after the sudden death of my younger brother, and closest companion, Patrick in a car wreck.

  1. Dear Charlotte, I don’t know if you remember coming to the Livermore Library a few years ago to read from “Place Last Seen,” but my husband, Cory Coll, and I were there and I bought your book. I loved it and lent it to my sister to read. Linda worked at Bookshop Santa Cruz for years and is a READER. Just today I was talking to her on the phone about what we have been reading. She said that she hasn’t read anything really good in a long time. In fact, she said she often thinks of “Place Last Seen” as one of the most recent WONDERFUL books she has read. She still envisions the little girl hiding in the woods and mentally urges the searchers to find her.

So you see what an impact your book has had on us. Linda asked me if you have writen anything else yet. I tried to email you at the mindspring address, but that didn’t work. I found this site and just thought I’d send you a note and say hello. I hope all is well with you and if you have written something new I’m sure my sister and I aren’t the only ones who will be thrilled to know about it. Sincerely, Anne Coll
